A little while ago I posted some photos from my granddad’s album of pictures from his time in the Far East during the Second World War. Today I have been working on tidying one of them up. It is of a Mk XIV Spitfire, and these things were clearly more than just machines; on the back of the photograph my granddad has written ‘Our Babies’.
